En Plein Air: McDowell

This season is one of open-mindedness. We all have our experiences that humble us and change our ways of thinking. I am in a season of humility.

One of my likely false conclusions is that Charlotte has "no outdoor scene" and there isn't much of an art community. Well in a matter of a day, I have both discovered a rich art studio community right on the rail trail and visited a new Charlotte park, McDowell Nature Center and Preserve.

I visited McDowell, intending to have a view of Lake Wylie, but upon arrival discovered their waterfront pier to be under construction. The noise and view were not an ideal set up. Instead I decided to hike some of the trails and keep my eyes peeled for some interesting views and light. I set up the Strada at the bottom of a hill on what I think was the Piedmont Prairie Trial, with light on the path and in the trees.

The final product.

Although I started out rather doubtful, I am happy with the finished product. I am getting back on the bike again!
